FM-200 is a colorless, odorless halocarbon. It can extinguish the fire by effectively preventing the chemical reaction that allows a fire to burn. FM-200 fire suppression systems are used to suppress fires in specific hazards or equipment located where an electrically non-conductive agent is required, and where agent cleanup creates a problem.
When people use the FM-200 fire suppression systems, sometimes they don't work. If it happens, it might be for the following reasons:
1.The gas suppression system control panel is in manual control mode.
There are 3 ways for the FM-200 to be activated: the automatic start-up mode, the electric manual start-up mode, and the mechanical emergency manual start-up mode. In the electrical manual start-up mode, the fire detection system can only detect and alarm the protected zone, and can’t turn on the fire extinguishing devices by itself. It needs to manually press the start-up button on the fire alarm control panel or the emergency start and stop button outside the protected zone’s door, so that the fire alarm control system can receive the starting signal and turn on the fire extinguishing devices according to the predetermined procedure.
2.The solenoid valve is not installed correctly or the safety pin is not pulled out.
The electromagnetic drive device is installed on the container valve. When the fire is being extinguished, the electromagnet will break down the safety diaphragm on the container valve to release the fire extinguishing agent. If it is not installed correctly, the fire extinguishing agent will not be released, causing the failure of putting out a fire.
3.The starting power is not enough.
If a fire occurs, and the power distributed by the fire extinguishing device is not enough, the solenoid valve might not be driven, the electromagnet might not act and the safety diaphragm on the container valve might not be broken down, making the FM-200 fire suppression system fail to start up, or some parts of it fail to start up.
4.FM-200 fire suppression system is not regularly tested according to regulations.
If the FM-200 fire suppression system is not tested regularly according to the regulations, it will lead to the result where there might be a leakage of the fire extinguishing agent, making the dosage of the agent fail to reach a certain amount, and causing the failure of putting out a fire or the fire extinguishing agent fail to be sprayed.
5.Other reasons.
For example, the selector valve has been in disrepair for a long time, resulting in insensitive action and failure to effectively spray the fire extinguishing agent. Or the equipment pressure is abnormal, resulting in the failure of the fire extinguishing a
